Understanding quality
Every certified stone is graded against the same four criteria. Knowing what they mean is the difference between buying a number and buying a diamond.

How precisely the stone is proportioned, and the single greatest influence on how it returns light. A well cut diamond outshines a larger, poorly cut one every time.

Graded from D to Z, where D is entirely colourless. Most people cannot detect any warmth above H, which is where value often sits.
D to H recommended

The natural marks formed inside the stone as it grew. At VS2 and above these are invisible without magnification.
VS2 and above is eye clean

A measure of weight rather than size. Two stones of equal carat can look markedly different depending on how they are cut.
